Rain & Moisture

Q: Can my driveway be wet before it's sealed?

No, it can’t. Driveway sealer cannot adhere to wet surfaces, so your drive must not be wet 24 hours before sealing. Make sure your lawn sprinklers are turned off and do not have your lawn treated within one week prior to sealing.

Q: What if it rains before my work is completed?

If you’re scheduled for paving work on a day where there is either moisture or rain, we’ll get in contact with you about rescheduling as soon as possible, likely the morning work was due to be performed. We will try our best to fit you into the schedule as soon as possible, but we're often limited by our previous scheduling commitments.

Q: Does my driveway need to be cleaned before it is sealed?

Yes. To ensure the best possible sealcoat application, you should clean all fertilizer, car soap, tire cleaner, and heavy mud from your drive at least two days prior to sealing. Birmingham Sealcoat can also clean your driveway at an additional cost.

Q: What time will you be at my house or business?

It depends on the other work we have scheduled for your day. Unless a rare exception is granted, we cannot accommodate any requests for a specific time for your work to be completed. We work sunup to sunset, so you can be assured we will be at your house or business before the end of the day.

Q: During what time of the year is work performed?

We generally perform paving services from late April to early October, depending on the service type and the seasonal weather. However, we may be fully booked prior to the end of the season, so be sure to schedule with us in advance.
