FAQs

Frequently Asked Questions

Below are answers to some of the questions we frequently receive regarding our sealcoating and repair/maintenance services. If you have any concerns about the answers provided, or have further questions, please feel free to contact us – we’ll be happy to help you out!

Do I need to be home when you perform work?

No, it is not necessary for you to be home when your driveway is sealed or when maintenance is performed. If you are having work performed on your driveway, just be sure that all vehicles are removed from the garage if you intend to use them before the sealer dries or work is completed.

Does my driveway need to be cleaned before it's sealed?

Yes. To ensure the best possible sealcoat application, you must clean all fertilizer, car soap, tire cleaner, and heavy mud from your drive at least two days prior to sealing. Birmingham Sealcoat can also clean your driveway at an additional cost.

Can my driveway be wet before it's sealed?

No, it can’t. Driveway sealer does not adhere to wet surfaces, so your drive should not be wet 24 hours before sealing. Make sure your lawn sprinklers are turned off in apt time, and do not have your lawn treated within one week prior to sealing.

During what time of the year do you perform maintenance and repairs?

We generally work from May to early October, weather permitting. Once it is too cold to perform asphalt/concrete maintenance and repairs, we offer premium holiday lighting services.

What happens if it rains before work is attempted?

If you’re scheduled for sealer or repairs on a day where there is moisture or rain, we’ll get in contact with you about rescheduling as soon as possible. We’ll likely call the morning work was due to be performed.

What time will you be at my house or business?

Unless specifically agreed upon, we don’t schedule specific times for sealcoating or repairs, but you can be assured we’ll be there sometime before dark.
